I am not into fancy meals. I don’t like cooking and I don’t like complex things. I am a simple creature. I have tried the raw food diet with its complex gourmet meals but only managed to do one and gave up.
I then discovered mono-mealing and my weight loss woes disappeared. You see weight loss doesn’t have to be complicated. You don’t have to spend hours in the kitchen preparing complex foods that are supposed to be healthy for you. In fact the best thing you can do is to go grab yourself 5-10 bananas and sit down and eat. I know that sounds shocking and something you couldn’t imagine doing right now and probably couldn’t do but simplicity is key.
I started off my weight loss journey by eating fruit before meals. This is an excellent starting point and gets you into loving it again. I would eat 4-5 pieces and loved it. I would then go on to eat my meal and found that I wouldn’t finish my plate but also that afterwards I felt satisfied. Instead of feeling the need to go chomp on some chocolate or eat a packet of crisps/chips, I just felt satisfied. Really I guess I was having my dessert at the beginning of the meal and this worked out wonders for me. It is also much better for your digestion this way. Fruit gets digested almost instantly and if there is other food in the way it can cause a lot of discomfort and gas.
Since then and losing lots of weight, I now have progress to a morning smoothie. This smoothie most days consists of 5-10 bananas, which sustains me for quite a substantial amount of the day. It keeps me balance as well and doesn’t make me feel tired. I have also lost more weight by doing this. I guess because it has also stopped me snacking more.
I also cut out dairy and meat. I kept that down to weekends at first but then it sort of disappeared out of my diet. Now and then I have dairy but I can’t stand milk alone now. I have again gotten lighter.
I am not saying you should cut out all these things, but what I do know is that I feel healthier, I have lost a lot of weight and I have managed to make washing up time and cooking time very very short in doing so. Less time cooking, less time washing up and more time doing things I love.
So you don’t have to complicate your life if you want to lose weight, in fact I would say it’s much better to keep it simple.
